Chemical washes and high-pressure blasting can damage timber. We specialise in full timber deck sanding with dust-controlled extraction, which removes old coatings, greying and mould to leave clean, bare timber. That gives the new coating the best surface to bond to and a longer-lasting finish.

Oil-based coatings penetrate into the timber and give a rich, traditional finish. Water-based coatings dry faster and have less odour, but are harder to apply evenly. The right choice depends on your timber, sun exposure and the look you want, and we'll recommend the best option when we quote.

Not directly. Oil-based and water-based products aren't compatible with each other, which can lead to a poor or uneven finish. If you're switching coating types, the deck should be sanded back to bare timber first.
